Frequently asked questions from teens & young adults
-
You don’t need to be in crisis or “falling apart” to try therapy. It’s for anyone/everyone who wants space to talk, learn more about themselves, and feel understood.
-
We’ll talk about what is bringing you to therapy, if you have goals for your time with me, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.
-
Nope. You set the pace and share as much or as little as feels good for you.
-
No. What you share with me is private unless I am worried about your safety (or someone else’s). Helping you decide how to share things with your parents is also something we can do together.
-
That’s really normal. We’ll find something together. It can be easy to start with how things have been for you lately.
-
Also very normal and likely to happen at first. It tends to get easier over time as we get to know each other better.
-
That is completely ok. It’s so important to be with someone who is! If it’s not me, I’d be happy to help you find someone who is.
-
Write it down somewhere or make a note in your phone for us to talk about in our next session. If it’s an emergency, call the Crisis Line 988 or 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
